Usenet is a real part of people's lifes as much as facebook and twitter is.  
Although usenet is much less popular, the only detail that is actually 
different is the technology behind it and how the medium is implemented and 
managed, and these tech-related details are irrelevant.

Could you please point out one case where someone died due to being trolled?
