So grow up, and stop complaining about language that most people find totally harmless. Reserve your complaints for more serious ugly or insulting language.

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase
unto more ungodliness.
There's a reason why most people aren't offended by profanity, David.
It's because they remain in sin and unsaved on their way to Hell.
These things are real, David. Investigate them for yourself and you will find
what I've found: the path to forgiveness of sin, and eternal life, both of
which transform you over time toward holiness, because He guides you that
way from within.
Satan wants to destroy you. Jesus wants to save you. Why are you afraid
to be saved?

Like most people, I don't like to see language such as in Melzzzzz's second post - and thus I don't like people to make posts like yours that directly provoke that kind of language. When you complain about a harmless word, you are knowingly and willingly encouraging such language. If the minor profanity in Melzzzzz's first post is a "sin", then /provoking/ his second post is definitely also a "sin" - and so I ask you not do do so again. And that, I hope (as you say, "hope" is alive and well), is the end of this nonsense and the last we will see on the topic.

Do you assume that anyone who replies to you honors your god unless proven otherwise, or do you only reply to people who explicitly honor your god? You know that the first case is false in many cases, and in the second case you're going to get very quiet in this group from now on. And when a person feels he or she is losing a discussion with you, can he/she stop you from replying with a simple bit of profanity? -- Robert Spanjaard

The people here know me. They know I am a Christian and that I teach consistently the path to salvation through Jesus Christ. I teach with Bible verses, things that occur to me, impromptu responses, etc. Those who are regulars will communicate with me without using profanity if they want a reply from me. I will give warnings, but if it persists as with Melzzzzz, then there will be no communication. I am not here to wallow in muck. I am here to receive help, and to give help, and to learn, and to teach. I am here as everyone else is, though I have a foundation rooted in Jesus Christ. He teaches us rightly, and I will walk after Him ahead of walking after anyone else's guidance. If someone who knows me wants to communicate with me, they will approach me with an offering honoring my God. If they do not, then they will know in their defiance from the first approach that their intent was to rebel against God, and not to communicate with me. For those who don't know me, they'll receive the same types of warnings I give others. It's then up to their heart condition if they choose to proceed in defiance and rebellion, or in submission to decency. ----- Basically, I ask nothing more than people would automatically offer up to their young children: respect toward known right behavior, and a shunning of wrong behavior, such that the offense of the profane babblings does not achieve any ground or foothold within the heart and mind of the intended hearers. Even vulgar people I've met protect their own children because they care about them. I ask for nothing more than the same caring, as I also will return the same to each person ... no matter their station in life. ----- Some things are truly important. Honoring God with all you do in your life is one of them. Best regards, Rick C. Hodgin

How? I know you. Yet in my previous post where I asked how it works, I did not honor your god. Remember there's a big difference between refraining from profanity (which is just basic politeness/respect/morale, things that do exist outside of religion too) and honoring a god. So what does an offering honoring your god is supposed to look like in order to get a reply? And why did you reply to me without me honoring your god? > If they do not, then > they will know in their defiance from the first approach that their > intent was to rebel against God, and not to communicate with me. So when someone swears at YOU, after YOU warned them about it, you automatically assume that the swearing is not really aimed at YOU but at your god. I don't see the logic in that, but I do see it's a convenient way for you to redirect dirt aimed at you in your god's direction so you don't have to deal with it yourself. I could almost argue that you don't honor your god yourself that way. -- Robert Spanjaard

Each person who knows me, knows who it is I worship, knows that I will not respond to people who use profanity, and who then chooses to use profanity, is not railing against me, but against God. At that point I will pray for people explicitly, rather than the general prayer I have for "people in the Usenet groups I participate in," or "the online community I'm engaged with." My goals are to serve God in this world. I teach about Him. I teach about the existence of sin, its toll on people (death and judgment come through sin), and the gift of God through Jesus Christ, which is the salvation of our souls lost in sin because of what sin means to a universe created in and based upon truth. As with Melzzzzz, people know full well why they are defying my request to not use profanity. They are doing it because they hate God and do not want anything to do with His call upon their life. It's why I then move to explicit prayer at that point. It's not a reasoned position they've arrived at, but only a rebellious spiritual attack against God that is at work. Only prayer can break through such a spiritual condition. No amount of speaking at that point will correct the issue. It must come from within, and that means prayer and Bible verses, and leaving things in the hands, work, and knowledge of God's Holy Spirit, and God the Father who sees directly into each person's core, where they are fully revealed before Him. People get to choose their paths. My goals in being here are to serve God, and lead people rightly toward Him. The Bible teaches many people will rebel against God continually. But, there are also some who will be saved. It is for those who will be saved that men and women like me labor. We do not labor for those who will not be saved, so our focus is always upon God, and not upon the requests or attacks of men and women operating in sin. Best regards, Rick C. Hodgin

If you dig deep, Robert, you'll find you're incorrect, and that they are always railing against God, and not against me (or someone like me). It is merely that I am the physical manifestation here in the flesh they can attack. They can't direct their rage at God in the flesh, which is all they understand, so they direct it at me because I am an ambassador for God, and they can attack me directly. > > As with Melzzzzz, people know full well why they are defying my request > > to not use profanity. Dig deep, Robert, and seek the truth. The answers you seek are found in Him. If you pursue the truth, and seek after that which He's given us through the multitude of teachings in the New Testament, then you'll come to realize the discrepancy which exists. That knowledge will only come in a pursuit of the truth, and an application of the effort required to pursue the truth fully. If you do this, God knows it is your intent and He makes it possible for you to then come to the understanding. You don't need me or anyone else to guide you. Set your sights on the truth and pursue it and He will do the rest. Best regards, Rick C. Hodgin

This is where typewritten text-based messages without looking at
someone's face, hearing their tone, or having the context of real
communication, hinders a person's understanding. A bunch of pre-
conceived assumptions jump in and scream, "Me! Me! Me!"
We have control over ourselves. Nothing another person does can
make a person respond in any particular way. However, people being
as they are in sin, there are many things that stir up the flesh.
It's why Christians are called by God to holiness, so that we are
not focused upon the flesh, lusts of the flesh, responding to the
lusts of the flesh, but are, instead, following after His Holy
Spirit, which allows us to "mortify the flesh" (as the Bible calls
it).

You will not find me at any point blaming anyone else. It is the
way of things, Robert. It's why I tell you to dig deep and seek the
whole truth.

Satan operates in people. His evil spirit has introduced thoughts,
feelings, emotions, beliefs, teachings, even doctrinal beliefs at
church which supersede those of the Bible.
Satan likes to pin people down to constraints which force a flesh-
based answer only, something that a person could reason themselves
into through flesh-based logic.
-----
God is not flesh. Jesus was flesh, and when He returns He will be
here physically again. But right now, God is spirit. And the way
you must come to God and understand is through the spirit.
Satan uses his spiritual influence upon your flesh to misdirect you
into all manner of sin and falseness. It's why the answers I give
people do not always address their question. Their question has
literally come from Satan (in one way or another). My response
does not address Satan's inquiry directly, but teaches the thing
God would have taught in that circumstance (as by studying and
applying the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible, and having an
active life lived in pursuit of His Holy Spirit).
-----
Jesus is not like other things, Robert. Until you pursue Him as
He is, you will never find Him. You can look everywhere else in
the entire universe ... but until you humble yourself and seek the
truth honestly with a full effort ... Satan has you.
You can see if this true for yourself:
(1) Are you a sinner (by Biblical standards)?
(2) What good work can you do to cancel out your prior sin?
(3) Are you continuing to sin (by Biblical standards)?
(4) What hope do you have in yourself, a sinner from birth?
Jesus is the answer to every ill there is on this planet. War,
disease, death, famine, everything. If people sought after Jesus
Christ and His true teachings, this world would be a paradise.
Best regards,
Rick C. Hodgin
