Many readers will likely not be interested in what I'm about to say.
I encourage them to stop reading now.
There are no guardians, just individual participants who would like
to use this newsgroup for its intended purpose, discussing the C
programming language, without too much noise.
Think of comp.lang.c as a meeting where a bunch of people have gotten
together to discuss a certain topic. (This isn't a perfect analogy,
but bear with me.) Some of us have been here for a very long time.
We're here because we want to discuss that topic. We've always had
a few people trying to disrupt the discussion, but we've generally
dealt with them reasonably well by ignoring them.
Just recently, *you've* walked into the room, with no experience
participating in the meeting, and started talking. You've engaged
with the people trying to disrupt the conversation, sometimes
by asking them to stay on topic (while the experienced members
repeatedly ask you not to do that because we know it doesn't help),
and sometimes engaging with them on whatever nonsense they want to
talk about. Meanwhile, the rest of us are asking you to either
participate in the discussion we came here for or to be quiet.
I have done so both publicly and via e-mail.
Perhaps you're just lacking in self-control. Perhaps you think
you provide enough entertainment value to justify the noise you're
creating while the rest of us are trying to have serious discussions.
But in fact, you are simply creating noise, and I see no real
difference between you and the blatant trolls.
And, perhaps just as bad as all that, you're *boring*.
*PLONK*
In case you don't understand what that means, I am adding you to my
killfile. (Technically it's a scorefile, but that doesn't matter.)
I am configuring my newsreader so it will no longer show me anything
you say. I will not see anything you post unless someone else
quotes you in a followup (which, frankly, I hope nobody does).
If you start posting thoughtful and topical articles, I will
neither see them nor reply to them. I am not being a "guardian",
I am simply adjusting my own personal view of this newsgroup to
exclude you, because in my considered opinion comp.lang.c will be
better without you than with you.
If you continue, you will still hurt this newsgroup, because other
readers who haven't chosen to killfile you will still see your
useless noise. I still hope you'll reconsider, but this is the
last time I'll try to persuade you to do so.
Buh-bye.
