Of course the C++ *standard* does. The cited book was published in
1991. The first C++ standard was published in 1998. The "bool" type
was added some time between those dates. (I had thought "bool" was an
earlier addition; apparently I was mistaken.)

shows bool as a new feature in the C++98 standard.
