It's harder to debug, it's harder to maintain.

e.g.
int f2(int len, struct foo *fob)
{
...
for (j = 0; j < len; j++)
{
fob->a = fq(...);
fob++;
}
...
for (j = 0; j < len; j++)
{
fob->b = fr(...);
fob++;
}
...
}
