More idiomatic is:

     while (ct-- != 0) {
         ;
     }

It's a natural for counting down through an array.

    unsigned array[10];
    unsigned ct = sizeof array / sizeof *array;

    while (ct-- != 0) {
        array[ct] = ct;
    }
