Well, fortunately I have no idea what any of that means! Provided it works
in the one or two programs I need as stop-gaps, then I don't care.

In any case, from what I can see of the code, especially this simpler
version of kbhit():

the code sets a new attribute, then restores it. Do you have a better way of
doing it, or are you saying it is *impossible*, under Unix, to test whether
a key has been pressed on a locally attached keyboard, in a way that keeps
everyone happy?
