It's not clear what you mean.  Do you just get too many warnings using
-Wall from the rest of the code?  If so, can you keep your changes in a
separate source file, at least during development?

The person who suggested gdb also suggested a memory sanitiser and/or
valgrind.  Did you try either of these?

People will naturally suggest you try what works for them, and if you
can't or won't do that they will stop making suggestions.
