I am attempting to create a visual display of these items. Let's say a board is 50"x100" and an ordered part is 49"x99" i want to display a square representing the part in a subform that is in design mode. The reason for design mode is so the op can move the board into position, maybe resize the part representation. Is it possible to present the main form in data entry mode and the subform in design mode? If so, how? If I enter code like > Forms!Test!Test1.SetFocus > DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdDesignView > the main form and subform are both placed into design mode, not what I want.. > > Since my forms are set to Tabbed Documents, I could display the subform as a standalone form but it would be a Modal or Dialog window. Not good. I want the op to view both the data entry stuff and the visual representation at the same time. > > I don't think I can programatically change from Tabbed Documents to Overlapping Windows via VBA. > > If any of you can think of a way I can present a form in data entry mode, another form in design mode, viewable together I'd love to hear from you. > > Remember, the form in design mode is used so the boxes representing the parts can be resized and moved around, a feature that is needed and very important and the ability to view both forms at the same time without hitting on on form and the other form being hidden. Thanks in advance Hi Patrik, i don't think that this is possible. A workaround may be to embed i.e. word or better visio as an ole object and automate this from access. Another idea is netview from http://accessnetview.codeplex.com. To get an impression just download it and start the playground mdb. Ulrich
