I am not aware of ANY version of Access when working on say a "typical"
application with 160+ forms, 200+ reports and well over 40,000 lines of VBA
code.

The switch between design and view is VERY short.

if you are experience a delay, then something is VERY wrong!

The above is in fact great news - because it means you should peruse and fix
this issue.

Removing some old junk might save you .001 (one thousand of a second).

So a few things:

If you database is split, then open a linked table (any linked table to the
back end). Now try working and developing on one of those slow forms - the
delay in switching should go away.

The idea that switching should take more then say 1 second means something
is VERY wrong here.

Check for reports or a default printer that points to a non existing network
printer.

work you way thought the following list:

MAKE sure you work with a persistent connection if this is split.

I suggest setting your default printer to a LOCAL printer - even if it a
free PDF writer.
Do NOT work with a default printer as network, or one that is NOT connected.

And if you have virus software - disable that during the above steps and
testing.

The experience of the "general" Access community is NOT what you are
experience and this slow form issue can and should be addressed.

Good luck! - and do follow up if none of the above fixes your issues.

Regards,
