A proportional controller will have a finite > error result, so you may want an integral term in the system. Slightly tangential but can someone explain if the integral term is supposed to decay? Otherwise, can't it potentially keep getting bigger and bigger without bound? E.g. in a thermal system, you have to keep adding heat to account for losses, or for (say) hot water being drawn out of a water heater, and being replaced by incoming cold water.
