It's not identified as "removable storage" but yes whatever system Windows uses to map the icons seems to have become confused and sent it looking for a non-existent icon file. Probably no way to tell how it's supposed to work so you'd have to make it forget the drive and then detect it again. Maybe booting with the drive unpluged will do this, but I suspect it'll still remember so you'll need to manually delete something in the registry.
