The "MTP file Layer" is not the same thing as "everything is a file".

MTP File Layer -> Virtual File System that any other tool can interact
with (via the VFS "driver"), without needing to actually know how to
talk to what's at the other end. Same basic idea as the kernel (and
filesystems) acting as an intermediary between programs and the actual
underlying block device.

"Everything is a file" is the basic concept of UNIX and UNIX-Like
operating systems. You can interact with any _thing_ using basic "file"
operations. For example, if you had a printer capable of reading
postscript at /dev/prt (i.e. taking the postscript and converting it to
normal text).

  cat toPrint.ps > /dev/prt
