One version, Geneva 1599 states " before he had seene that Anointed of the Lord." Matthew 16:16 "And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Or You are the Anointed... Every time the word Christ is used in reference to Jesus it is calling him anointed. Jesus Christ is Jesus the anointed. Baptism is the outward expression of your dedication to follow Jesus Christ. No cleansing. -- Caver1

He became "The Christ child". or: The Christ Child also known as Divine Infant, Baby Jesus, Infant Jesus, Child Jesus the Holy Child refers to Jesus Christ from his Nativity to age 12.

No cleansing. odd since the word means 'dipping in water', John drenched people in the Jordan. I wonder why bathing in water if cleansing is not involved. and apparently John had been baptizing for repentance (Matthew 3:11) and when Jesus showed up he linked it to Jesus's mission. I hope I got that right. f.
