I see that Google plan to stop supporting support for Chrome on Linux, I believe 32 bit only initially. Hopefully, this isn't a precursor to a total end of support of Chrome under Linux. I appreciate that others prefer other browsers but the ending of any support for Linux is, in my view, not a good sign.

It has never crashed on me, but something in the shut down process apparently senses that the shut down was not normal. I also have the Maxthon browser installed and only use it for websites that insist I use I.E. It seems to work in lieu.

It seems to work in lieu. I've never needed anything more than Firefox. But then again I know people who have quite a few tabs open. They throw out numbers like 100 tabs or something. I don't do that. At most I have 4 or 5 tabs. I've never needed 100 tabs or even 10 tabs opened at once. I barely every get 6 tabs at once. -- Marek Novotny https://github.com/marek-novotny

What I typically see is that users fail to close apps. They just let everything run all the time. The browser has so many tabs running and they don't seem to get that. They just keep opening more and more. They don't seem to notice that they have so many running that they can't even see what they say. They leaves apps running too. If it is a Mac, they close the window, but leave the app running. If a PC, they have a ton of apps in the task bar and like the browser I can't even see what they are because they are insanely running so many. They tend to shut the lid of their laptop and that's it. They operate on their bed or otherwise use it in a manner in which the vents can't do their job. And if anything doesn't work at all, they are absolutely clueless. I mean seriously, deer in the headlights clueless. It doesn't matter if it is Linux, Windows or a Mac. They are just clueless regardless. They don't have the slightest idea what could be wrong. No concept of RAM, storage, heat or anything else. I'm guessing this is why tech support will tell people to reboot first. Likely because it will shut down all the apps and re-start with a clean slate from which to trouble-shoot. But now we have apps like Firefox that want to restore the prior state. And the latest Apple OSX wants to restore the previous application state, which I think it a bad idea. I'm not the tech at my work place but often the tech is not around. He works from 2:00PM or 4:00PM and up where as I leave at 4:00PM. So often if something happens someone will ask me cause they know I used to be a tech years ago. I just hate helping these kinds of people. For some reason they tend to like making apps full screen. So we have this huge 27" display and all you can see is EMAIL in 27". And on the left are archives going back to biblical times. And then most of the screen is the subject of the email. More than 50% of the entire screen shows just the subjects. And then, finally on the right side, the email message itself, with what looks like maybe 20% of the display. So it is this slender window you have to scroll up and down on to read this narrow view of email. If I change it they have a heart attack right there. They want to work this way. If someone sends them an attachment, they have no concept of saving it and storing it somewhere that makes sense. Instead, if you ever ask for that attachment, they will send me the whole email and an eml file with the file I asked for as an attachment. And they have no idea what constitutes a good subject, so forget about searching for emails using common sense words because these users have no common sense. I'm constantly blown away by how ridiculously stupid the work force is. Makes me want to go to my next interview and just tell the HR lady, look, I'm normal. The rest of the people you likely hired are morons that can't open a door without a sign that says, "push" so just hire me cause I'll be the one of the 20% that actually do 80% of the work instead of the 80% that collectively do 20% of the work. -- Marek Novotny https://github.com/marek-novotny

Using Seamonkey, no matter how many tabs are open and the mail open too I rarely see more than 350mb or so RAM use.

I must admit that I'm a multi-tab offender in my browser.
I'm using Debian Sid and the 4.2.0-1-amd64 kernel with LXDE on a HP
Pavilion with:
----------
Processor :4x Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory : 8118MB (4065MB used)
Resolution : 3360x1050 pixels
OpenGL Renderer : GeForce GT 635/PCIe/SSE2
----------
I normally have upwards of a dozen tabs open and leave them that way
until I log out of my X session which may be a couple of weeks
sometimes. I have a news conglomeration site, two social media sites,
a TV guide to movies on broadcast TV, an email site, two blogs which I
follow, my youtube history, my hotspot manager page and perhaps a few
news stories I plan to share with That Danged Wife.
I use Chromium. It's been up for maybe a little over a week now.
I also have another iteration of Chromium with a youtube
movie paused, Claws-mail, geeqie showing my camera's contents, GKrellM
(obviously), Cairo Dock and Cairo Clock, plank, a screen ruler,
midnight commander in a terminal emulator, and Rhythmbox open.
cybe@wizardstower:~$ free
total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 8118220 3509296 994440 269588 3614484 4296928
Swap:16651260 267960 16383300
cybe@wizardstower:~$ uptime
18:56:38 up 52 days, 23:52, 1 user, load average: 1.57, 1.62, 1.55
Seems OK and everything is nice and snappy. Once in a while I'll
stumble across a page that consumes my resources wildly. I log out if
I can't close it and re-log in, then close the offending page before it
can load. All is then fine.
