Lamport's book on latex is all you will ever need.

A lot of other books are about idiots variations,  as when a bad teacher
tells  his pupils, "The rest is obvious."

using vim as editor,  which can take a little learning.

The sacred words are, "Keep It Simple, Stupid"

I have a laser  printer, and I am thinking of  reverting to a
dot-matrix. KISS.
