I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year's - and that
everyone has been too busy with festivities to post here.
Otherwise, is there something wrong with my news feed?
I haven't seen anything in this group - or in any other
groups to which I'm subscribed - for a week or so.

Actually, e-mail made it to me from several of you.  (Many thanks.)
Indeed, as some pointed out, Newsguy had some sort of message
renumbering that got my newsreader out of sync.  I got a flood
of old messages in a couple of groups, while most others (including
this one) appeared to dry up.  I've reset everything, and managed
to retrieve and read the backlog (as you've no doubt noticed in
other threads).

Secure from battle stations.

They did do a renumbering, IIRC, the day before Xmas.  From
what I saw, newsguy renumbered back to 0.  My hypothesis
is that one of the newsgroups overflowed the message number
field so they had to restart everything with a larger field.
they have done this about every two or three years since I've
been using them.

nntp.aioe.org  was off line for a few days and when it returned messages
on some groups more than a few days old were gone.

Usenet is slowly declining in participation.
The Interwebby thing is still the main point of attraction, using a
million times as many bytes to convey as little information as
Usenet.

In marketing; Blinkenlights are important because they blink; not why.
Interweb is full of Blinkenlights.

Can't really market Usenet.

Certainly can't monetise it, use it to spy on you or deliver advertising,
so no-one's interested.
