The language fits nicely on word addressed machines such a the GE-600 and descendants. Like BCPL it is an untyped language. I think it is better than BCPL, but C is just different. I also maintain a C compiler. B is just a lot simpler. The listing for our B compiler is is about 1/2 - 3/4 inches thick. Which is about 1/2 the size of of the CPP listing alone. Principally, B gives you access to a library of functions for system interfaces. The Gcos B library is far bigger than the compiler. See http://www.thinkage.ca/english/gcos/expl/b/manu/manu.html
