Given how the developers of many open source programs cannot get the program
to work well, it is unlikely the end users will be able to.

Yes. That is my point as well. In the office setting, where the desk
clerk is hired to do a job, isn't expected to use the source code of
some application to reprogram the app and then debug it. Just isn't in
the cards for that desk clerk. This is what Peter as alluded to, which
is just absurd.

Does not even make sense to assume any but the largest of companies are
going to take on a project and, say, make LibreOffice work with images as
well as the competition. If the current developers have been unable to what
makes him think some small group in some company will be able to?

* OS / Word Processor Comparison:   <http://youtu.be/w6Qcl-w7s5c>

From the comments in the bug reports I have submitted to get it to compete
well in that area would take a LOT of re-working of the back end code.

If you can program, yes. But your average office secretary was hired to
do a certain job, not to fix programs. I'm talking about the commercial
sector here, not your home user.
