When I do that, I only indicate in the feed a brief description of the change. I also subscribe to varius RSS feeds, including announcing a new blog post by my daughter. When I look at a feed, it too is only a summary. However, each feed's subject is a link to a Web page. If I select the subject, the Web page opens in my browser. This is correct because Thunderbird is not a Web browser. -- David E. Ross <http://www.rossde.com/> Israel has been accused of genocide. However, I prefer viewing the detailed messages as Web pages in my browser. That allows me more options to change the display. For example, I read amateur fiction online as Web pages. I get an RSS feed each time a story has a new chapter. Some authors like to show off their HTML skills, with white text on a dark background. I have toolbar buttons on my browser to change that to black text on a pale green backgroun, which is much easier on my eyes. Some stories have links to related information. I can select a link to open in a new tab without losing my place in the story and without having to jump between Thunderbird and my browser. As I indicated, Thunderbird is NOT a Web browser. -- David E. Ross <http://www.rossde.com/>

So I finally opened a Bugzilla, which was marked as a duplicate, and the dev decided to close the original bug as WONTFIX. However it's not exactly the same as my bug, it's specific to "rss.show.content-base." https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1965372 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1847491 I'm staying on v102 for now but I'll try Christian Riechers's trick with the view menu if I ever update TB again. No, and now I am back on v102, I'll try it next time I update, which
might be in years lol. The view menu trick works in v102 as well, and
there is always Betterbird which confirmed having fixed this earlier in
this thread. Lots of options, thanks to you all.

As Jörg mentioned, this feature has been restored in Betterbird, and very many regressions have been fixed as well. All the various feed viewing options are documented here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-subscribe-news-feeds-and-blogs although some may no longer apply to Tb. There's no need to edit options in config editor; there is UI for everything. (The hidden option to open a url in a browser upon selecting a feed message in threadpane has been restored in Bb). Note that View->Feed Message Body As is a global override. The Default Format, for the feeds in the folder, is the setting in the Subscribe dialog for the folder.
