I know I can do that as a workaround, but the right pane is still not
behaving properly. Its scroll bar should scroll the entire pane,
including the buttons. The left button should never roll off out of
reach, no matter how narrow the pane gets. That's the behaviour it has
always had up until now and how it is if I downgrade to version 94.x.

And what about your Preferences window? If you shorten it, does not the
right options pane get cut off with no scroll bar to get to the lower
area? Actually, it looks like SOME of the categories get a scroll bar
but it doesn't actually scroll all the way to the bottom! Toolbar,
Edition, Advanced, and others don't even get a scroll bar.

Never noticed the lack of scrollbar on left panel, but yes, if I shrink the window I have no
scrollbar on the left. The right-Yes.

I've always wished that all the windows in general would resize to fit the data in the window. If I
click on edit category to change the color, 1/2 of the fields are off the edges, I can resize but it
should be large enough to accommodate. I do have fonts scaled larger but programs can measure and
test that kind of stuff.

I see why I don't have a problem with the General button, I'm not using
the vertical view. I'm using the classic view. Everything looks fine.

As for the categories, they also display fine for me.

I am having no problems with the top buttons on the Contact pane. What
Configuration window are you talking about. I don't see any problems in
Preferences anywhere.

The General button in the Contact pane is off to the left - you can't
scroll over to fully reveal it.

https://i.postimg.cc/050px4x4/cardbook5.png

The categories on the left disappear off the bottom of the screen but
there's no scroll bar to reveal the last few of them. The right pane in
this category needs a scroll bar to get down further.

Some of this might be related to the small screen on the laptop, as
compared to a larger, higher-resolution desktop monitor. But it all
displayed well with pre 95.x Cardbook versions.

Just another thought.

Are you on Windows? What scaling are you using on your display?

https://i.imgur.com/v5xYbYk.jpeg

Cardbook may not be handling scaling above 100% correctly.

With anything above 94.4 I do not see any addresses or any way of adding
a remote address list. So as I said, I stick with 94.4 for now.

Right click in the left most pane and select "New address book". On the
next window select "Remote". Then select the type of remote address
book and fill in the Username and Password (if necessary).

Notes used to be displayed at the bottom of the General tab as well as
the Notes tab. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker if the didn't come back,
but I found them convenient.

I didn't remember that. I have few notes and I guess I always used the
Notes tab.

I finally resorted to downgrading Thunderbird from 128 to 115. With
128, I found that while Cardbook 98.x is buggy, 94.5 is just as buggy
in different ways - the New Contact compose/edit windows was empty,
that is, I couldn't add or edit a contact! Inexplicably, this only
happened on one of my computers Cardbook is too important to me and I'm
tired of trying to troubleshoot it, so I went back to a known working
combination, Thunderbird 115.18.0 + Cardbook 94.4.

I, too, have this problem with Cardbook. Versions after 94.4, right up
to the latest, 97.7, just don't work for me - they don't display the
address book contents at all and I can't access the addresses. So I've
set Automatic Updates to OFF in Addon Manager. I occasionally download
a new version of Cardbook, but for months these have failed to work for
me. Yet others must be using the newer versions of Cardbook
successfully, which I don't understand. I'm on TB 126..6.0ESR.

There are some 98.x test versions available on Gitlab, but they still
need some work. Fortunately, it's easy to downgrade by just re-
installing the old version. I recommend we stay at ver. 94.4 until the
issues get fixed.
