After reading my newsgroups, When I choose to "Mark all folders read",
Thunderbird inquires of me whether "I'm sure". Since I may sometimes do
this a couple of time a day, it's a little tedious. Is there a way to
configure Thunderbird mark the folders read (upon request) without
checking with me whether I'm sure first? Thank you in advance for a
positive or a negative answer!

I'm rather torn about it too. The powers at be don't seem to get it in sync.
Some days I just right click the newsgroup and mark all read and that does not ask me.
Some days I do it to the server and then it asks me. No consistency in programming.

But it's more time consuming to click one group at a time rather than one server.

I think doing it one newsgroup at a time is more logical because as I get to the last group, I'll see that more new messages have come up in
the marked groups since I read them. If I were to do the whole server and get that nagging OK prompt, I may not really have read everything.

I selected the first newsgroup in an account. (I have three newsgroup
accounts.) While holding down my Shift key, I then selected the last
newsgroup in the same account. Finally, I right-clicked to get the
pull-down context menu and selected Mark Newsgroup Read. All newsgroups
were marked as read WITHOUT any prompt asking if I were sure.

shift-c immediately marks all read with no dialor.

"Mark All Folder Read" is a right-click context menu item when the
account is selected in the Folder Pane introduced in Thunderbird 68.0.

David's and your methods work for the newsgroups.

But thanks Walt, it's a bit easier than right-click and click. I usually have my hand on the keyboard anyway.

Thank you for that tip, Marc! I wasn't aware of that feature.
