What is the latest version of Thunderbird ESR and where do I download it from? This link https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/> is useless because it says the latest version is 17.0.11. Thank you.

The ESR and release were combined into the general release and the current version is 78.10.1. <https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/> You can peruse the release notes for all releases at your leisure. <https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/> I would start with the notes for version 24.0 and work my way up to the notes for 78.10.1. There may be a 78.10.2 update next week. -- OS: Fedora 34 Workstation - Gnome 40 Desktop https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/get-involved/

Got that from the link I gave in my other post, and the following confirms it is an ESR: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/78.10.0/releasenotes/ However, a Wikipedia article says 78.11 is the latest ESR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_version_history#Current_supported_official_releases The calendar page of my other link was last updated 13 May 2021, and shows 78.11 as a future release. The Wikipedia article was last updated 15 May 2021, and shows 78.11 as a current released. So, I hunted for release notes on 78.11. Didn't find it. Perhaps some authors are mixing channels (beta, dev, nightly) versus the release channel. The OP's inquiry is probably about a released ESR landing. https://www.wikizero.com/en/Firefox_version_history#Firefox_78.10.1esr That shows the 78.x ESR versions whre 78.10 ESR was released 04 May 2021 while 78.11 ESR isn't expected to get released status for another 2 weeks on 01 Jun 2021.

Coming out with a TB release a week or two later than for a first ESR landing for FF is pretty damn close for synchronization, and the say day or in a couple days for incremental (sub-minor) versions is damn close for synchronization. You thought the FF group was in charge of releasing TB? That the TB group can release on the same day as the FF release is impressive. However, they likely only need to include regression testing on the major version release of FF to make sure no problems in adopting the new FF code changes, like for differences in the chrome (GUI) between the two products. The following datestamps taken from the release notes for FF and TB: FF 78.0 : released 30 Jun 2020 TB 78.0 : released 17 Jul 2020 (18 days later) FF 78.0.1 : released 01 Jul 2020 TB 78.0.1 : released 21 Jul 2020 (20 days later) FF 78.1.0 : released 28 Jul 2020 TB 78.1.0 : released 30 Jul 2020 (2 days later) FF 78.2.0 : released 25 Aug 2020 TB 78.2.0 : released 25 Aug 2020 (same day) FF 78.3.0 : released 22 Sep 2020 TB 78.3.0 : released 24 Sep 2020 (2 days later) FF 78.3.1 : released 01 Oct 2020 TB 78.3.1 : released 26 Sep 2020 (6 days later) FF 78.4.0 : released 20 Oct 2020 TB 78.4.0 : released 21 Oct 2020 (1 days later) FF 78.4.1 : released 10 Nov 2020 TB 78.4.1 : released 06 Nov 2020 (4 days later) FF 78.5.0 : released 17 Nov 2020 TB 78.5.0 : released 17 Nov 2020 (same day) FF 78.6.0 : released 15 Dec 2020 TB 78.6.0 : released 15 Dec 2020 (same day) FF 78.6.1 : released 06 Jan 2021 TB 78.6.1 : released 11 Jan 2021 (5 days later) FF 78.7.0 : released 26 Jan 2021 TB 78.7.0 : released 26 Jan 2021 (same day) FF 78.7.1 : released 05 Feb 2021 TB 78.7.1 : released 05 Feb 2021 (same day) FF 78.8.0 : released 23 Feb 2021 TB 78.8.0 : released 23 Feb 2021 (same day) FF 78.9.0 : released 23 Mar 2021 TB 78.9.0 : released 23 Mar 2021 (same day) FF 78.10.0: released 19 Apr 2021 TB 78.10.0: released 19 Apr 2021 (same day) FF 78.10.1: released 04 May 2010 TB 78.10.1: released 04 May 2021 (same day) They ARE synchonized on both release dates AND definitely on code.

Thunderbird is not Firefox. If you thought I said Thunderbird and Firefox were exactly the same product with different names, or even variants of each other (e.g., Firefox, TOR browser), you're making up stuff. I already alluded to differences in the products, but TB does rely on Firefox code hence the synchronization in versioning of FF ESR with TB. https://developer.thunderbird.net/thunderbird-development/getting-started "Thunderbird is built on the Mozilla platform, the same base that Firefox is built from. As such the two projects share a lot of code and much of the documentation for one will apply, in many ways, to the other."

There is also a column that says it is for Firefox. Did you miss that column? On 16/05/2021 05:52, VanguardLH wrote: > https://wiki.mozilla.org/Release_Management/Calendar > > There is a column marked "ESR" to let you know which were the ESR > releases.

Martin <invalid@invalid.invalid> wrote: > There is also a column that says it is for Firefox. Did you miss that > column? Since the releases of TB are based on the ESR landings for FF, I just watch the ESR landings for FF. Mozilla claims at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Home: - Thunderbird Project version numbers generally match up to Mozilla Firefox ESR and beta versions. - (Unlike Firefox, Thunderbird releases versions between ESRs only as betas, for example 69-77 are betas only). - But we roughly track the ESR release schedule of Firefox. - Thunderbird ESR Releases typically happen the same week of the published Firefox dates. Plus this TB article has a link to the release calendar that I mentioned at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Release_Management/Calendar. I take it by their 2nd point that TB is not released except at ESR versions of Firefox, and not at any of the intervening FF versions which the TB group considers beta versions. Doesn't that make every release of TB an ESR version? Seems the OP should just get the latest released version of TB, because that's one that based on an ESR landing of FF. Despite Mozilla's claim regarding their versions are based on ESR landings of FF, TB is still available in released, beta, and nightly channels (as shown at https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/). Since the OP wants an ESR landing of TB, he should select "Release Channel" which offers 78.10.1 and is an ESR landing of FF. I'm on the [rapid] release channel for FF, and I have 88.0.1. The TB blog (https://blog.thunderbird.net/) discusses TB 78 which is also an ESR landing level for FF. TB releases on the ESR landings of FF.
