Reminder:

it's a boring music video (year 1968?) using classical music. Target
audience might be kids. Prepare to hit the fast-forward button! ๐Ÿ™‚

That's why I said "Target audience might be kids". For new-born babies
and as they grow up, everything is new, interesting and exciting.

Old persons should have seen all these "shit" and "crap". :)

The attention span of the young today smdh! lol.

It's the parts without any sound whatsoever that are amongst the most
significant parts of the film.

The fact the film still resonates culturally nearly 60 years later
highlights how impactful it is.

This actually is a big problem. How can you WATCH(HEAR) AND LEARN
without long attention span? It's a national security issue... a big big
big one!!

What exactly is the attention span problem? A curse?

It's the likes of you saying that watching a 2 hr long film is a "boring
music video".

No one has the desire or interest to do anything long-form anymore.

If you have seen the movie before, is it still called an attention span
problem? :)

If something is wasting your time and you leave, is it attention span
problem?

Feeling boring or repetitive has nothing to do with attention span.

Anyway, that movie's pace was too slow by modern standard.

Sure it is. Calling an undisputed classic of a film which uses pace and
tone explicitly to explore the themes in the story "boring music video"
does reflect a lack of willingness to engage with it properly.

However, I wouldn't recommend you watch it again as not all films are for
all people.

> Anyway, that movie's pace was too slow by modern standard.

I find many modern film/TV titles extremely boring and satisfying because
they are far too superficial and treat the audience like idiots by being
very unsubtle with plot points.

Telling a really good story, IMHO, requires slow and fast, room for
(mis)interpretation and ambiguity, and multiple threads working in parallel
and probably not in sync.

Anyway, the world is a great place because we're all different and have our
own views. This has gone a bit too far OT.

No, I will give it a 2nd chance when I have time and mood.

I still think it's a boring music video. It should not have lasted 2
hours. The whole plot isn't as twisted as other blockbusters.

Maybe I watched and memorized too many stories, far more than what you
think. :)

I remember reading a novel about the future, where the only stories people
read were just one or two pages long.

Space is big, and travel times are long.

The movie captures that.

You have time to think about some of the thematic inconsistencies.

As for the notion of attention span, if you really had
a limited attention span and you worked for a living,
chances are evolution would weed you out if you weren't
paying attention. Imagine for example, you're a linesman
for the power company. If you really had a problem
paying attention, you'd be blown right off your ladder :-)
Problem solved.

As for degraded problem solving ability, yes, that's
going to be more and more of a problem in future.
And that's been evident for the last 15-20 years.
It's showing up right now, in our ability to
(re)design road surfaces in town here. And no, an AI
won't be able to figure it out, because none of it
makes sense :-) I can tell the construction workers
are enjoying themselves, as all they have to do is
follow the blueprints and make incomprehensible things.
They don't have to worry about whether it all works or not.

You can explain taht phenomena.

Because the people in that book's world had long memory. They were not
new-born idiots that needed to learn about the world again.

Does the President of United States of America need to read/hear all the
books to issue an executive order? No. :)

A teacher try to mind control someone using a curse on behalf of teaching.

Students snapped out of the mind control mid-way.

IS this short attention span? Or is it automatic protection against
teacher's curse? :)

*Surely* you've seen the film?!

If not, then, very much recommend you spend 2hrs watching it. Iconic.

You can rent it from Amazon Prime, Sky or Youtube.
