So at that (Windows 98) time, it was not just called/ named 'address bar', but actually *labeled* as such, 'Address'. According to the screen shots, it was still labeled 'Address' in XP, but unlabeled in Vista and ever since, though 10 and obviously 11. So 'address bar' it is! Thanks again.
