On a machine like that it should only take a few minutes. But
there are things to deal with, like selecting language. You can't
just leave it to run.
If it were me I'd do a disk image backup before doing anything
else. Then run the installer and deal with it. Don't expect it to
be effortless. Also, don't let Microsoft have its way with your machine.
Download the ISO, write it to a USB stick with Rufus, then disconnect
ethernet and boot to the USB stick. If you're updating from Win10,
download the ISO to a data partition, then mount it to run
the update while keeping files. (For some reason it refuses to do that
via USB stick.)
