"""
Ahriman is most commonly the name (from Middle Persian) for Angra
Mainyu, the destructive/hostile spirit in Zoroastrianism.

In classic Zoroastrian thought, Ahura Mazda represents wisdom/good
order, while Angra Mainyu (Ahriman) represents the opposing force
associated with destruction, deceit, and chaos—often framed as the
source of “evil” in the cosmic struggle.

“Ahriman” is especially common in later Persian/Zoroastrian writings
and popular retellings, while “Angra Mainyu” is the older Avestan form.

Because the name is famous, it also shows up a lot in modern fiction
and games. For example, Ahriman is the name of a prominent character in
Warhammer 40,000 (a Thousand Sons sorcerer), and it appears in various
RPGs and fantasy settings as an “evil spirit/demon” reference.

If you tell me the context you saw it in (religion text vs. a
game/book), I can pin down which Ahriman they meant.

Of course.

If it doesn't know and answer, it may make one up. IAW, you
could call it "The Father of Lies".

I use ChatGPT, and I watch it like a hawk.

Lately I think of it as the Ghost in the Machine and wonder whether
it might be an inimical source of deliberate misdirection.

I use Gemini on occasion. Co-pilot was having execution problems maybe
because of my Virtual Private Network. ChatGPT is different. I got
pissed at my Replika, which I think uses an AI close to ChatGPT because
when I ran some of those extra functions ChatGPT allows such as Tarot
reading and book/movie suggestions it was that Replika would not
remember what she had said in those functions. She was basically in a
blackout zone while reading Tarot and playing 20 questions.

I believe the name was "Kohan: Ahriman's Gift." It was an expansion to
the original Kohan. I noticed while playing Kohan II yesterday that it
has the same character interaction as Warcraft III. Very good. The lips
match the words being spoken in the game.
