Oh cool scene, The African Elephant! The light looks like late afternoon,
sun glaring at the camera lens.
The Oliphaunt in Middle Earth is bigger, has more tusks and they put battle
spikes and saw wire on them than our regular Elephants! I recall Samwise
Gamgee being fascinated with them in the movie. "Look Mr. Frodo,
Oliphaunts!" Big enough their howdahs carried a whole squad of troops in
them!
Noggin must have loved the Lord of the Rings stuff too, he made this set to
go with that elephant:

Have fun! :o)

Yes, it was a Noggin set. I've used his stuff ever since he did the Rat and
that's a good set too with lots of options built in.

Same here. So, I got to rooting around in the runtime to piddle around with
the textures and find some in guess who's folder(s)? Just don't say "Roy
Batty" and we be cool ok? ;o) ANYWAY, I was amiss to lead thinking to the
Elephant being Noggins. The Howdah and War Howdah Texture set are his. As
way cool as the various elephants are, I am not sure who exactly created the
original DAZ African Elephant. Which seems a masterpiece of simplicity,
actually! I find that it was Chris Creek of Silverkey3D that created most
of the DAZ animals. I also recall most of us agreeing that the DAZ animals
were WAY better than the Poser animals. And the DAZ African Elephant is a
Silverkey critter! :o) Tadaaaaaa!

Yup, I agree. The DAZ animals are far superior to the Poser stock critters.

And SO, having opened another historical Can Of Worms, I headed over to
where Chris Creek is now the CEO of HiveWire to check out anything new that
he and Ken Gilliland (Songbird REMIX guy!) have come out with. Oh COOL!
Lizards of the World with our beloved li'l Carolina Anole in it! And he
did an excellent character of it too! Yeah I bought it. YAH! MINE!
LOL! :D I got birthday bonus points which I spent on that and some other
goodies. Heh! I do love working with LIFE figures and scenes. Of course
they are more difficult to 'get right' in a render. But so worth the
effort. :)

The animal/bird figures are great, I agree. I've never liked the Dawn/Dusk
human figures though. They're way too expensive for human shapes that aren't
a significant improvement over V4/M4, IMHO.

Agreed on Dawn/Dusk. I dunno about ALL the HW animals though. Like the HW
Horse, 'Harry'. The pics look good, I hear from people using it that its
better than the MilHorse but nothing about DazHorse2 comparisons. I have
both DAZ Horses, and still love the old MilHorse1. There are morphs and
fixes for it, improvements with characters for it, hundreds of coats for it,
and I don't see any Centaur Kits for them like HEMI426 created for the
MilHorse. That alone keeps me using MilHorse, MilHorseFoal, MilBigCat,
Charger.
BUT now Ken Gilliland is firmly part of HiveWire, Chris Creek is the CEO of
HW, LisaB, LaurieS, Dreamer are there and others that once were at DAZ now
do amazing stuff there at HW. I buy stuff from them and do enjoy using it
all. I did buy the HW HouseCat cause it was on sale. Couldn't resist!
I got lots of cool kitties now. Yes I did buy into DAWN. I really want
to see how much it takes to get that Figure up to 'Best V4' level. It
doesn't, so far, get there. It's GOOD, but LaFemme started out above
Dawn's best IMO. And I have bought every morph in sight for LaFemme also.
And also for PE. But, LaFemme can be a total trip man, it's amazing.
There is SO MUCH in it I am both boggled and bedazzled by it. The only
thing I don't like about it is it ONLY works in Poser 11/Pro. Not sure if
any of the mesh is reason for that. It should be usable in at least P10 and
up yaknow? Like PP2014! And, how will it port into Vue?
So back on topic, I LOVE Kens birds man. It will take me a long time but
I'll get all of them eventually! And the Lizards of the World is one
that's great too. I bought the HW Lizard and two sets of characters to go
with it. I love our little Carolina Anoles (chameleon garden lizard), they
really have personality, are bright (sometimes), very active little guys.
Its funny though, as a kid I recall seeing some occasionally as much as a
foot long in certain kinds of bushy trees we had. Maybe these were just
ancient ones? I thought they were smooth iguanas or something at first,
being so big. But they let me stroke them a little, didn't run away.
Their skin, shapes, color changes were the same as the little ones so I
reckon they were the Great Grandparents of the neighborhood or something.
So, now I have them in 3D! :D
McG.

I didn't get the lizard set but I got Frogs of the world and the Hivewire
Horse, which is great, IMO. There are a lot of skins for it like the feline
set that allows you to create some really alien-looking creatures!
I also got a Hawks of North America set, some of which I've posted here.

I was accepted as a Poser 11.2 'early adapter' and I'm running that now. I
haven't found any bugs yet and everything seems fine, but they are actually
doing NIGHTLY builds of it. I almost feel guilty because I'm not really
putting it under any stress tests. ;o)

I wanted the Lizards cause of the Carolina Anole. OR, in regular folks
terms, the Garden Chameleon Lizard. You see, I remember, as a kid, finding
little clutches of not quite hard tiny white eggs. Carefully gathering them
up and sheltering them in a warm sunny window corner. Then they'd hatch,
and I'd know it by my moms screams and the broom whacking the walls and
chairs. oops. I'll try another window. but see, I thought they were snake
eggs at first. And when I finally saw some hatching, I saw these little
tiny tadpole sized green/gray 4 legged lizards that would instantly tongue
lash every fly and skeeter around! And this was before the insurgence of
alien Gecko's from SE Asia! That didn't start until the pet trade got some
in the 70's. But now I knew how to find BABY garden lizards! LOL! I
wonder how long it took for a pair of them to get to over a foot long? Big
enough to eat little birds! And they were Carolina Anoles, just like the
little ones. Only much bigger. I saw this pair eating bumble bees and
wasps. They seemed smarter than the little ones. Never saw a different
description of these, so they must be simply older Anoles.
AND, the good ol Texas Horned Toad! Another lizard in the clutch!
