Or rather, we have odd bits of law that mysteriously morph into
additions to our unwritten constitution.

And "reasonable force" is interpreted very differently from one court
and police force to another. If you keep a cricket bat by your bedside
to defend yourself against an intruder, it is quite possible that you
may be charged with aggravated assault should you use it against a
burglar.

That really is screwed up.

Maybe you can plead it down to an ASBO.

No Supreme Court per se, no.

But then, we have managed really quite well with our system for a very
long time now, so the absence of a final judicial arbiter does not
appear to be a fatal flaw.

I rather like the idea that even parliament
has to obey the law. Otherwise a "tyranny of the
majority" is possible.

Arguably, we are close to that state of affairs now. Our politicians
and governments are so addicted to opinion polls that they frequently
twist and turn like weather-vanes depending on what the vox populi seems
to indicate.

Growing up in the South I witnessed how
the Supreme Court led the way in establishing
and protecting minority rights that were VERY
unpopular with the public but were the right
thing to do. Rights which would not exist even
today it if were left up to elected politicians
and voters.

Rights are rights NO matter who's they are...

There is NO such thing as minority rights.

And Republican President Eisenhower called in the National guard. That
wasn't the Supreme Court that did that.

"unpopular" to treat people equally? But then again you might ask if
public schools improved from it and oddly enough you might ask if
private schools have reduced education quality as much as public schools.

The minority of the elite Liberals like Hillary getting special FBI
treatment is "unpopular"? Children being educated is NOT unpopular.

I might then remind you that the Supreme Court upheld slavery as
constitutional, and it took WE THE PEOPLE to rise up and fight in a war
that resulted in the slaves being freed, after which the people passed
an amendment to the constitution banning slavery in the U.S.
jurisdiction. The Supreme court seems to be late to the party.

3 - Liberals actions are easy to predict. They're those of a
Conservative after you take away all reason and responsibility.

Over here you have to have a throw-down weapon to put in the late
burglar's hand: then you're golden.

Register the bombs and do background checks on the owners...

Or we could be as strict with immigration as we are with Background
checks to get guns...

Second device is a pressure cooker.

There is no defense, we have to go on offense and there's only one hope for that.

Oh, Hillary is much more effective than Trumpidiot in tackling terrorism.
GOP knows nothing about terrorism except dogmatic religion.
