Problem is, Jeanne, even when they are taken seriously, this is a crime 
that is generally difficult and often impossible to prove.  Unless there 
is clear evidence of violence, it boils down to a case of "he says, she 
says" ... and then, it becomes little more than an exercise in character 
assassination.

This is never going to change, either -- not unless you legally mandate 
video surveillance for every single sex act.
