Last night I noticed there was a new driver as of March 31 so I applied 
it and was hopeful ... but it was a misplaced hope. The static is back 
so the previous (seeming) fix with Afterburner has been unfixed.

I guess you are right, time to send it in for service.

The card is one year and a couple weeks old (purchased March 2010). ATI 
offers a three year warranty but not on Sapphire branded products. 
Sapphire offers a two year warranty but I have to take it to the place 
of purchase and have them arrange the repair/replacement. The place of 
purchase currently claims over the phone they only offer 30-day return 
privileges and have asked me to dig up the invoice to "see what they can 
do."

So the game begins. :D

I found my 9800 GTS card in storage so I guess tonight I am swapping 
cards and going through the fun and time-consuming process of resetting 
all my software to recognize the Nvidia card again instead of the 
Radeon. Whee!
