Optarse is the wholesaler that MyRepublic uses. Both are operations based in Singapore although both have australian call centers, or atleast the Optarse Wholesale part of Optarse and My Republic do. > are they your current copper line supplier? Nope, my retail provider is dodo and they are reselling Telstra. TPG is the only other operation with DSLAMs in this town. > My republic when I rung them said that I should see them when ready and > they would send the modem and after it was working I should then cancel > telstra service, I did not ask about phone numbers. You'll find they ask if you want the current phone number ported to their voip service when you sign up. That's optional, some don’t even bother to have a handset plugged into their POTS line so they don’t get spam calls. Doesn’t cost you anything to have their voip service, you only pay for calls made if you don’t pay more per month for their voip service at various levels. The modem they supply does voip.
