Can't think of anything else that has aged so well, although IBM didn’t do too bad in that area either. Wasn’t so true of the filler panels tho, those crappy shiny black papier mache things. > even though most have moved to the more complex VDU/keyboard as the > fundamental interface, prior to loading an OS. > I have a 1971 catalogue, "Digital Products and Applications" which shows > them all in their glory, with the most phenomenal one being the > PDP12/LINC. > (1971 was my vacation job between 2nd and final years at Uni) I'd been using a PDP8S, the serial one, 5 years before that and had moved on to the PDP9 well before that as was involved with the OS which had the same idea as TSX for the 11s rather later than that, essentially a multiuser RT-11. And we stole the design of the PDP9/PDP15 interface converter from DEC's circuits, made our own modules that were copies of DEC and added the 9 track mag tape that way. The 9 was discrete transistor, the 15 ics.
