the wifi from the router is fine. works with ipad, phone, etc., the 
laptop will connect via wifi if I use a usb wifi adapter or ethernet 
connection, but not with the built in wifi

"Troubleshooting could not identify the problem". seems pretty certain 
to me it's a hardware failure
