I was wrong. TELNET does indeed take a bare IP address. The other
commands I use on the regular do not. I telnet back into Linux so
infrequently that I never did test it until just now.

That's my point of showing all these examples: you don't need to modify
it anymore. It's a configuration issue at this point. DECnet and LAT
work all around the LAN and ip4 works LAN + outside world. The point to
point setup you get when you let the simulator assign an IP address on a
tap is breaking your connection to the wider world. When you see
"pointtopoint" you're going in the wrong direction (unless you don't
mind the host/guest being isolated from the rest of the world).

Indeed. TELNET must be separate from the other tools. I know finger
and rpcinfo won't.

I never see any of that. Looks like it's trying to build you a network
rather than use the one that's there. I only see three lines referencing
dpni20.
