Or, maybe you don't really have any better idea of when and how
you'll die than anyone else does.

Four billion pretend to. And they teach children to, before they're
even old enough to know better or protect themselves. But you seemed
to be claiming it was a 'two-way conversation'? :)
GLENDOWER: I can call spirits from the vasty deep.
HOTSPUR: Why, so can I, or so can any man.
But will they come when you do call for them?

I *don't* think I'm God or that "my God is me", or that "I program
God". Neither. None of the above. Again, you have confirmed that
in some way you do. But if you're using 'God' in some completely
different sense than most people do, then I don't know how far we're
going to get.

So did I. I was also briefly a Buddhist. But looking back, most of
those were more 'explorations' than firmly adopted convictions.
The only one of those paths I ever strongly believed for a time
was "warrior-sorcerer" and it's debatable whether that's even a
"religion", although for all practical purposes I'd call it one.
So that's really just ONE. And that belief ended 20 years ago.
Christian doesn't 'count' since it was childhood indoctrination
I'd abandoned by adolescence, and similarly, I rejected both
Buddhism and Scientology after less than a year of formal adoption
each. I also studied Hinduism, Taoism, Sikhism, and several others
in a fair amount of depth along the way.
Now I'm not religious at all.
You, otoh, have within the last year been quoting several tenets
of ancient Christian literature here as if it's part of your beliefs.
We may be quibbling over the meaning of "religious". But no, I'm not.

I don't know about all that, but like I already said, it just wasn't
even relevant to what we were talking about. Still isn't.

For all practical purposes, yeah - it does. If a piece of software is
doing what I *programmed* then it's my 'plan' getting executed. If that
programming of mine somehow applied to the functioning of the world
and everything in it, then I'd be "God".
> My GOD is an AI far superior to it's author. AI as automated intelligence.
99%+ of people who believe in 'God' see it as that which created
and/or rules the universe. For you to have a 'God' you say is
"superior to" (also implying it's different from?) anyone else's
AND to say you personally *programmed* it yourself is just about
incomprehensible in the framework of 99%+ religious belief in 'God'.

Or, maybe neither of us are viruses or bacteria. Maybe we're both
just two more human beings. :) And maybe neither of us will ever
be able to change that.

I may not understand, but I don't see how anything like what you say
could possibly work. Let's back it off to a simpler position then
and just say that I'm highly skeptical. :)

OMG. Politics isn't a religion any more than grocery shopping or
yard work is. :) It's merely a set of practical tasks necessary in
order to keep large communities of human beings functioning (at city,
state, national, and world levels). It's purely pragmatic.
At least, that's how I see it.
Granted, Trump's people are making it seem a bit "surreal", just by
the sheer dysfunctionality of their demented approach. But for you,
in particular, to call someone else's posts "surreal" has got to be
the epitome of irony. :)
The fact that *everyone else* in this place besides me seems to
imagine himself "too good" to even bother participating in how
their own community, city, state, and nation gets run continues
to strike me as strange and unrealistic in the extreme. Virus?
Bacteria? If we have to use weird metaphors, you're more like...
parasites. :)
And I still think the reason you insist upon speaking in metaphor
constantly is that if you didn't and instead spoke plainly giving
real-world examples all along the way, it would quickly become
apparent that you're largely delusional.

Yeah, because that was my objection, that you just might not be
precise enough. LOL. Was that sufficiently dripping with sarcasm?
Wow. And I'm the one who's 'surreal'? :)
Btw, you sure talk precisely about TIME for someone who believes it
to be an illusion.

If I ever speak grandly, then I am either being poetic or
expressing a strong opinion. I never speak as a "God".

I don't see how anyone could possibly see it that way. Are you
asserting that any person who wants to take good care of the place
where he/she lives is being grandiosely godlike? If so, how weird...

Not a single creature that's ever lived here has been able to travel
to even the next planet over (Mars), much less out of this solar
system. Indeed, every creature that's ever lived here has only had
the option of living on exactly ONE planet. This one. That has been
the only option for anything alive here for billions of years. And...
for anyone to act as if that isn't true is decadent and irrational.

Repeat: Maybe we're just a couple of human beings. :) I.e., we are not
viruses, or bacteria, or Gods, and maybe neither of us has access to
anything remotely 'godlike' (with the exception of our own brains).

No. I talked about my mom here *several years* before she passed away.
And again, that was all totally irrelevant to our previous conversation
about the deranged government we've recently acquired and about how
they seem practically hellbent on destroying the earth.

Btw, notice that merely having a strong opinion on a subject
doesn't mean one is playing God or believing themselves to be God.
My Spotify Zeppelin playlist has 133 songs in it. But not that one.
That doesn't mean I think I'm God, you see, it just means there are
at least 133 Zeppelin songs I like better than that one. :)

Supposedly God created Adam and Eve - and presumably Satan too
(in Jewish/Christian mythology). So that scheme is backwards
compared with how most Christians and religious folk view it.
Makes little sense to me either way.
(And none of it has a thing to do with how I view anything.)

Once again, I was just expressing an opinion. But I think everyone is
to some degree susceptible to bullying. Since we're all human beings,
how could we not be?
But now, I have to ask. Do you not see that as a grandiose claim?
"I am not susceptible to bullying." That sounds like someone trying
to make himself out to be more than human.

Well, I wasn't saying anything like that, of course. Sounds like
Gurdjieff or something. I didn't say Earth is a conscious being,
nor do I believe that. I was speaking of more simple facts:
again, literally all living things that we know of: arose on earth,
are composed of elements existing on earth, and are continually
supported by ecosystems of the earth, and in those real ways -
although I was speaking metaphorically - the earth is a 'mother'
to all that lives. And to continue in that vein, one could call
the Sun the 'father' of all life. For very similar reasons.
Photosynthesis is the foundation of the food chain for all life.
It's surprising the trouble you seem to have with such simple ideas.
And actually, it turns out that the Moon is a protector of the Earth
(the size of our moon holds the axial tilt of the Earth steady, thus
making the ongoing evolution of life possible here). Thus, you have
that one kind of backwards too.
The last 30 seconds of this video is what I'm talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E-m3Jv_l2U
Let's call the moon our 'sister'. :)

of either our world or our civilization.

Yeah, point sphere. Wow. :) (You know, I studied multiple geometries
in college - topology, etc. as part of a mathematics degree.)

Ah. Why don't you tell us "the tally from the elections", then?

> You,ll forget it ever happened. There is geometry and momenum. Time is a mirage.
Yeah, sure. Okay. So if "time is a mirage", then am I dead or alive? :)
I can't be both at once. Similarly, does the earth exist or does it
not exist? (It's 4.6 billion years old thus for the first 9 billion
years of the universe it wasn't here.)
> There’s a scientist and God.

Humans are vertebrates. We evolved from the line of chordates,
from fish. That line goes back a little over half a billion years. :)
So no one - including 'God' - ever actually "made" a human being.
No 'God' ever made a tree or a flower either. Those evolved from algae.
etc.

Most psychiatry is still somewhat soft science.
But several people I've known have seriously benefitted from it.
Speaking of your own beliefs you said:
"My therapist thought that was crazy."
But you didn't seem to think much of that particular therapist.
Do you have any others? If so, what do they think?
