That sounds like sarcasm, but I can't quite figure out what your point
was, if that comment was intended to be sarcastic, so I'm going to

Typing in non-random stuff, the 38 hits I mentioned earlier dropped to
19 when I actually looked at them (typical GG flakiness). Most of those
threads involved kooks claiming to have achieved lossless compression of
arbitrary files, using the million random digit file as a test case.
However, I also found the following seemingly relevant threads on
comp.compression between 5 and 10 years ago, just as he specified.

Starting at the beginning.
So he did NOT present claims without substance. He didn't just assert
that there was problem, he identified it specifically. He did not ask
you to simply accept his authority - he directed you to discussions of
problem. The fact that you seem to have been unable to locate those
discussions is your problem, not his.
