Actually it wasn't Russia, who allowed German reunification.

The country of that era was named 'CCCP' (aka 'Soviet Union').

Gorbachev was then head of the state and wanted to reform the Soviet Union.

He thought, that an end of communism in eastern Germany would be a god 
start.

Most Germans hate Naziism and like Russia. But what people like is 
irrelevant anyhow.

Politics is a different story.

German politicians are most likely handpicked by the former allies in WWII.
