A point at infinity is "usually" a point to gain a perceptive from. It is a _finite_ point that is simply called infinity. We can say the point at infinity is 100 units down the z-axis, off in the distance so to speak. We can use it to draw lines in perspective drawing. This does not mean that infinity it finite at all. There is no smallest unit fraction and there is no largest natural number. Ever look down a long road and it seems to project itself into a point? This does not mean there is a smallest unit fraction at all... > > That "the naturals are compact" is along the lines > of like "the reals are projectively well-ordered" > with regards to that there are models of the integers, > where it is so. > > Where it is so, .... > > Then with regards to theories of atomism while in the > meso-scale things are divisible, has that it's among > classical theories and complementary duals and you'd > be well advised to be aware of them in settings where > the topics are science, physics, mathematics, logic, .... > >

Between any two real numbers there is a rational number and between any two rational number there is a real number. But there are only countably many rational numbers while there are uncountably many real numbers. :-) Math lingo: "The rationals are dense in the reals". :-)

Fair enough?

No good idea, since in this case your program will deliver 9182024 + 1
points, right?

Nope. The (real) interval [0, 1] consists of more points than just
9182024 (or 9182024 +1).
Actually, of (uncountably) infinitely many points.
Hint: WM -this fucking asshole full of shit- is always talking nonsense.

I need to add one to completely finish the line from p0 to p1 wrt the
code as is. Otherwise I can omit the +1 and use a normal like:
pnormal_base = 1.f / 9182023;
That is a minus one in the normal. Then I would also hit p1 in the line.
I can actually plot this to show the difference.

Of course. However, we can gain any finite granularity we want to simply
because it is infinitely dense to being with. :^)
Think of the granularity between the naturals and the unit fractions.
Then the reals that are infinitely dense. They are uncountable because
they are so dense.

[...] WM is a strange one. If no point is between them, then they are the same. p0 = (-1, 0, .2, -.4) p1 = (-1, 0, .2, -.4) p0 equals p1. Therefore they are the same point. No in between here.... ;^) >

If no point is between different points, then the points aren't in the complete line. But perhaps they are points in something else, perhaps in a line of integers. Points can be next to each other in the integers, as successors and predecessors. Going over boring details, such as what it is to be next to each other, is a tactic for countering Radical! New! claims which, upon a more careful look, turn out to not.be about what is broadly meant by complete line, etc. Here, we see a rare example of WM using words in the usual way: "no point between". But he describes something not the complete line, something with points next to each other.

Sure, but that it "restricting" our line of thinking to the integers. In that strict realm. -1, 0 and 1 are all next to each other. There is no .5 or anything like that in this strict line of thinking. Fair enough? Just like -1 does not exist in the unsigned integers... ;^) > > Going over boring details, such as > what it is to be next to each other, > is a tactic for countering Radical!
