Huh? 8ft is well under 3m (3 meters is nearly 10ft).

I never said they were a bad idea, I said they were not to spec and
disallowed by USB and nospam pointed out that they could not legally be
called USB cables and will not carry a USB cert.

Considering that USB carries power, *I* wold not use a cable that was
not to spec.
