According to the 69% of 5-star reviews on that page, that's not true.

There's a lot of misinformation flying around in this thread; and it's
not helpful. For instance, for all the talk about how USB extension
cables are a bad idea, I've had a ~15-foot USB extension (male to
female) cable in use for *years* connecting various USB printers in my
office to my closet server, with no issues at all. 

It certainly seems like people's actual real-world experiences are
contradicting the FUD people are preaching here in this thread.
