Why are you bothering to take the slightest notice of what politicians 
and quasi-religious types? You seem quite distracted by all the noise. 
Look at the actual reports from the IPCC.

Well, taking things that seriously is not everyone's cup of tea. But 
not taking things that seriously does cast a certain shadow when 
dealing with thoroughly scientific investigations.

The line of thinking is very much older than Dawkins! *You* see it as 
game theory, you may even see all of ethical thinking as game theory 
and you might do whatever you get away with, at least in the short 
term (though I doubt this, I think you just have not thought the whole 
thing through).

There are a number of ways for people to behave ethically or at least 
to do so from ethical motivations. One is the fear of fairly direct 
punishment. The other way is achieved by internalising the community 
(and/or the earth) and having it's welfare at heart. Then it is not a 
matter of getting away with things because part of your concern is 
something much bigger than yourself.
