Does it feel right for the OS to do what it is designed to do? Of course. Does
it feel right for the OS to make caches to speed things up. Sure. Does it feel
right for apps to make preferences files? Yeah... they sorta have to.

I have no idea what could possibly feel wrong about any of this.

You look at these things and do not fully understand. THAT is fine. But then
you assume it might be bad. Why not instead ask if it is uncommon? Try four or
five other apps and do the same thing! THAT would be valuable for your
investigation -- see if an app is doing something unlike other apps. But as
far as I know you never do that. Doing that would absolutely be key to any
such digging into oddities.

Does not mean if one app is different it is evil or bad or nefarious, of
course, but it at least would be uncommon and it might be interesting to see
WHY it is different.

Why not do that instead of asking others to install and uninstall apps and the
like?
