But very little > electricity is generated by coal in California. Those are in operation in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico, not California. California shut down its last coal fired generation plant in 2015. Those Southwest plants, together with Hoover dam hydro, supply about 6% of California's electricity, primarily to Southern California all via Path 46 national grid. > Mostly hydro and natural gas. Actually it is mostly natural gas (50+%), hydro (6.3%), solar (6%), wind (8.2%), bio-mass (2.6%), and geo-thermal (4.4%), making about 27.5% green and renewable. Some oil. Officially no oil. Though some industries and homes(very few) have small dedicated generators burning diesel and gasoline. Some nuclear, but those are being decommissioned. The only remaining nuclear plant is Diablo Canyon and that is scheduled for deactivation in 2024. It currently supplies 9.5% and is going to be replaced with renewable wind and solar, and hydro.
