The more recent iMac models can't be opened with just suction cups. They're glued together and require a lot of work to open up and put back together. iFixIt gave the just released iMacs a fixability score of just 1 out of 10. The recent laptop models aren't much better either. It's best left to the experts at an authorised repair centre if still under warranty / AppleCare (and probably even if out of warranty) ... at least if they screw it up they have to replace it for free.
