I have 8 GB in the iMac now, and with my normal set of open apps, I
have 6.38 GB memory used, 1.3 GB cached files, 1.34 GB swap use, 3.93
GB app memory, 1.27 GB wired memory, and 1.19 GB compressed.

Yes, more memory is (almost?) always a good thing, but do I really need
it now?
