Start up Terminal.

Type "top" and hit return.

You'll see a lot of data, but the one to monitor is "swapouts".

If swapouts isn't growing, then your machine isn't actually forced to 
swap data out of memory in order to make room for other data.

In short, you don't need more RAM.
