Well, the os did warn me that it was running out of disk space and was 
still running, but very slowly.  I figured it out just in time, so OS X 
is a bit safer than other UNIXes in this regards.

Just keep in mind your log messages is all.  That thing can get really 
huge quickly.  I set mine to around 50,000.
