Yeah, I have several different albums with the same name and have never
had iTunes group them into a single album.

"Greatest Hits" and "Live" for example.

I only use "Various Artists" for things like a cast album where the
specific singer on a specific song doesn't matter. Otherwise, on
compilation, I set artists by track because there is no overarching work
tying the tracks together.
