I had my iTunes library on an SD card when the laptop was stolen.  Thief 
wasn't very smart, though, and I tracked him down.  (cops weren't 
interested)

Unfortunately, I didn't check for the SD card, and I was Back in the 
USSA! (oops, wrong song) before I noticed it was gone.

Time Machine refused to backup the SD card, and my manual backup was 
only occasional.  So over a month's worth of imports was lost.
